Tradition attributes the town's establishment to a Kiev Prince, Yaroslaw I the Wise (Jarosław I Mądry). The foundation of town in accordance with German, called Magdeburian, rights, was done by Władysław Opolczyk on 7th July 1375.

At the beginning of 15^th century Jarosław was already an important trade centre, however, the town actually flourished in 16^th and 17^th centuries. Just then famous fairs considered ones ofthe biggest in Poland and even in Europe took place.

Jarosław is one of the most beautiful towns in Poland and sometimes it is called a „pearl of the Renaissance” because its representative architecture dates backto that period of time.

In Michał Zieliński’s youth, that is between World War I and World War II,  Jarosław was called a town of schools and the army. It had a very positive influence on the residents leading to strengthening their patriotic attitudes and their national identification. It was also based on the beautiful tradition ofmany generations of Poles fighting for their freedom and sovereignty. The period after World War II was the time of development and industrialisation of town.
