Shortly after graduating from 9th High School and passing his A-levels, Krzysztof Kolberger went to Warsaw to take entrance examinations to the Aleksander Zelwerowicz Drama Academy. However, he was surprised to find that his name did not appear on the acceptance list. Still, he managed to make an appeal and soon began studying under the direction of Ignacy Gogolewski - Polish actor, director and screenwriter, as well as, Adam Hanuszkiewicz, who later hired Kolberger at National Theatre and entrusted him with the best roles. In 1972, he graduated from the Acting Department and then he moved to Katowice where he staged of the Silesian Theatre in the role of Kubuś in Adam Kreczmar's "Hyde Park" directed by Zbigniew Bogdański.
